Guide
Credit stacking guide
How to combine startup programs without wasting applications — and when separate legal entities can each qualify on their own.
Core rules
01
Most credits stack across providers
AWS Activate, Google for Startups, Microsoft for Startups, and most SaaS startup programs use separate billing accounts. You can hold credits from all three hyperscalers simultaneously.
02
Order matters for tier unlocks
Join NVIDIA Inception before AWS Activate Portfolio if AI-focused — Inception membership can unlock larger AWS tiers. Apply to Microsoft Founders Hub early for bootstrapped Azure credits before layering VC-gated programs.
03
One grant per organization (usually)
Most programs limit credits to one grant per legal entity. You cannot apply twice to AWS Activate for the same company. Prior equal or greater credits typically block re-application.
04
Separate entities = separate applications
Where program terms permit, distinct legal entities with separate domains, emails, and billing accounts can each apply independently — one application per qualifying company.
05
Ecosystem credits vs direct programs
Google Gemini, Azure OpenAI, and Amazon Bedrock access often flows through cloud startup credits — not separate direct applications. Check your GCP/Azure/AWS startup tier before applying to duplicate programs.
06
Referral-only programs need partners first
Vercel for Startups, Netlify for Startups, and many $100K+ tiers require VC/accelerator affiliation. Plan your accelerator decision as a multiplier on perk access for the next 2 years.
Recommended sequence (bootstrapped)
Default playbook for solo or small teams without VC backing.
- 1Stripe Atlas
Incorporate and unlock partner bundle
- 2NVIDIA Inception
If AI-focused — unlocks partner ecosystem
- 3Microsoft for Startups
Bootstrapped-friendly Azure path
- 4AWS Activate
Founders tier ($1K–$5K) self-serve
- 5Google for Startups Cloud Program
Start tier ($2K) for MVP stage
- 6Cloudflare for Startups
Use BOOTSTRAPPED code if <$50K raised
- 7
Open Mercury/Brex/Ramp for marketplace perks
- 8
Layer SaaS programs: Notion, MongoDB, GitHub, Datadog
Multi-entity guidance
If you operate multiple portfolio companies, each with its own legal entity, domain, and business email, you can typically apply to the same startup programs separately — as long as each entity meets eligibility on its own merits. Programs that restrict “one per founder” or share Org IDs across portfolio companies are flagged on their detail pages.
